When you imagine the scenery a few days after the festival has finished, one of the first images that comes to your mind is probably rubbish we leave and forget about while we are having a good time. Trebjesa Brewery wished to change this image and create another- an image on first „green’’ music festival in Montenegro. As a sponsor of Lake Fest, the Brewery used this festival happening in the hometown of Nikšićko Pivo, to create collaboration in the field of ecology.
Together with the Ecological movement ,,Ozon’’ as an implementation partner, they have created and have been realizing for five consecutive years a successful campaign ,,Rock & Recycle. The aim of the campaign is for the festival space to remain as clean as it is possible, through the motivation of the visitors to dispose used plastic bottles to the recycling sites. The other important aim is to raise ecological awareness of the visitors regarding the importance of environmental protection.
In the last five years, tens of thousands visitors have heard the messages of the campaign Rock and Recycle, participated in the collecting of the cups and were given symbolic awards for it. Over 100.000 cups were collected and sent for recycling. This way the festival space has remained clean even prior to the activities of communal services. At the same time the quantity of waste which ends up at landfills has decreased.
In 2017, Trebjesa Brewery in collaboration with the academic sculptor Marko Petrović Njegoš, has created the sculpture of otter out of 30.000 recycled beer cups, tall over three meters, which symbolically begs for the survival of its specie and conservation of nature. With the otter as a symbol of clean waters, this company has showed that the waste can also serve as a resource, used in academic and environmental purposes.
