Knowing that continuous, timely and efficient supply of healthcare institutions and patients with safe blood is a very important prerequisite for the functioning of the health system, UNIQA, as a socially responsible company, has been organizing voluntary blood donation campaigns for years.
Having in mind that blood also has shelf life, the problem of insufficient frequency of this humane activity has been identified. In this regard, UNIQA and the Blood Transfusion Institute have signed a Cooperation Agreement for a project aimed at addressing the above problem, whereby UNIQA additionally motivated donors by providing them with accident insurance. Since women can donate blood every three and men every four months, the duration of the insurance policy for voluntary blood donors is three i.e. four months (the period between two blood donations).
In addition to humanity, voluntary blood donation has positive effects on the health of donors, and the insurance provided by UNIQA is another reason for citizens to decide to take part in this activity that saves lives.
The project started on 20th of December 2016 with the organisation of “Voluntary Blood Donation Day at The Capital Plaza Center”, through which UNIQA wanted to highlight the importance of this humane activity, and also to announce the benefits for voluntary donors for all those who choose to donate blood by the end of 2017.
In addition to the UNIQA Insurance employees, the campaign was supported by The Capital Plaza and the companies operating within it (also members of the AmCham), business partners as well as citizens of Podgorica.
The Capital Plaza and UNIQA Insurance for the past two years together have organized the largest corporate campaign of voluntary blood donation in Montenegro, and bearing in mind the results, donating “drops that mean life” will surely become the tradition of these two companies.
