Telenor Foundation supported the project of the Tourism Organization Žabljak “IT as support of Adventure Tourism Development. The project aimed at members of mountaineering associations and outdoor clubs, cyclists and nature lovers learning more about using GPS devices and mobile phones for easier navigation on the mountain.
About 100 interested people, who are engaged in various nature or tourism sports, are educated to enter GPS data, take coordinates of sites of importance for the tourist offer and collect photos of hiking trails. All of these data are now available on the web pages of clubs, travel agencies and organizations, with the aim of additional presentation of active tourism. Thus, 46 popular hiking trails, in the area of national parks Biogradska gora, Durmitor and Prokletije, are mapped and accessible on the internet. This allows potential guests who choose a destination for their vacation, or people already in Montenegro, to receive adequate information about hiking or cycling routes.
Additionally, all adventurers are paid attention to dangerous points, so the activity is not only promotional, but also useful for the safety of guests on the mountains. All routes described and all GPS data are available at http://www.pedalaj.me/tehnologije-kao-podrska-avanturistickom-turizmu/.
