As a fully integrated town development, Luštica Bay is putting in place lasting infrastructure along Montenegro’s Luštica peninsula in Tivat and generating tourism content in the region. However, as part of its aim to build an organic, integrated town, it is also taking an active role in preserving and enriching the diverse culture of nearby communities.
On a smaller scale, Luštica Bay has been involved in the renovation of local towns and villages. Just one of the many examples is the €150,000 invested annually in the town of Tivat, which has funded the rebuilding of many community projects – in the last year in the neighboring village of Radovici, the company sponsored works on the elementary school facade, repairing its bus zone, installing a children’s playground, creating an outdoor workout area and adding recreational benches across the village.
Luštica Bay has sponsored numerous sporting, educational, cultural and infrastructural initiatives, tallying to some €1.2 million euros invested so far. This includes an agreement with the Municipality of Tivat, renewed on annual basis, to donate €150,000 to the community initiatives. Donations have gone towards sponsoring the activities of numerous local clubs including Delfin Sailing Club, Tivat Aikido Club, Tivat’s Charity Union of the Blind, Tivat Archery Club, Sloga Soccer Club and Tivat Medical Centre. In keeping with Montenegro’s tradition of communal celebrations, Luštica Bay has also sponsored and partnered with a range of local festivals: International festival KotorArt; opera and classical music festival Operosa; International Festival of Mediterranean Theatre, Purgatorije; and various children’s theatre festivals.
These efforts have helped to spur a cultural renaissance across the region, bringing communities together and ensuring lasting ties with local towns and villages. Their success is reflected in the high levels of local participation and support. One memorable example occurred following Luštica Bay having helped organise a children’s folk dance performance with over 200 participants alongside the NGO Kadena. So as to thank Luštica for the support and guidance, after the performance the children performed a surprise flash mob for Luštica Bay employees outside their head office!
